About the Workshop and Why Attend?

• On July 1, 2026, the Florida Chapter 617 was updated and renamed as the Florida Nonprofit Corporation Act. Changes were made to modernize the act and provide clearer rules for nonprofits.
• The changes matter to each organization and present an opportunity to review your governing documents (Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws and policies) to ensure compliance.
• For example, if your bylaws are not aligned with the statutes, they are considered silent with respect to the law and Florida state laws prevail and not your bylaws.

• Attendees will better understand the role of articles, bylaws and policies in governing your organization.
• Using their own articles and bylaws, attendees will be able to review and note major areas of change for compliance for their governance committees to review.
• Attendees will learn about areas of best practices for board management from both a staffing and board member perspective.
• Attendees will understand the resources they can go to for ensuring governing documents are current with state law at any time.
