About the Workshop and Why Attend?
- On July 1, 2026, the Florida Chapter 617 was updated and renamed as the Florida Nonprofit Corporation Act. Changes were made to modernize the act and provide clearer rules for nonprofits.
- The changes matter to each organization and present an opportunity to review your governing documents (Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws and policies) to ensure compliance.
- For example, if your bylaws are not aligned with the statutes, they are considered silent with respect to the law and Florida state laws prevail and not your bylaws.
What You’ll Be Equipped With:
- Attendees will better understand the role of articles, bylaws and policies in governing your organization.
- Using their own articles and bylaws, attendees will be able to review and note major areas of change for compliance for their governance committees to review.
- Attendees will learn about areas of best practices for board management from both a staffing and board member perspective.
- Attendees will understand the resources they can go to for ensuring governing documents are current with state law at any time.
